Callac,
a quiet country town in Central Brittany is renowned for its ability to
celebrate. Annual host to the fundraising bike ride " Le Pierre Le
Bigout", an annual Faire foreigne (carnival), a fantastic lakeside
firework display and Fest Noz on the 13th July, to celebrate Bastille
Day and this year, on the 6th July, host to the 6th stage of the "Tour de
France". This year is extra special in that the Town will be
celebrating their 10th "Repas de Rue".
"Repas de Rue" has been an annual event since 2001 in the "Quartier de la gare" (next to the train station), initially to revive a once bustling part of the town that over decades has seen more and more businesses closing. The heart of the community is still very much alive and the remaining businesses, brocantes, bars and restaurants ("La Buvette" and Kastel Yann) enjoy local and tourist custom. Their clients are warmly welcomed and their "regulars" are like one big happy family.
It was from this community spirit that the "Repas de Rue" was born - a musical extravaganza with a meal and bars on the road so that everyone could eat and celebrate together. The president of the "Comite de la Gare", Jean Marc, patron of Kastell Yann, works tirelessly throughout the year to ensure that each event is a spectacular success. No longer confined to the local residents and customers, the Repas de Rue has grown annually and people come from far and wide to participate in this celebration.
This year, to mark its tenth anniversary, fireworks will be added to the celebrations along with some of the biggest names in Breton music, KLEV, SOLDAT LOUIS, RED CARDELL and TITOM all have huge followings in their genre of music (ranging from traditional Breton to Rock), so the stage has been set for its biggest success ever.
To participate in this joyous celebration, tickets are on sale at "La Buvette" and "Kastell Yann" priced as follows: until the 19th July dinner and concert 17 euros, concert only 10 euros, after the 19th July ticket prices are increased by 5 euros.
